The Hoots Rally is in Muskegon, Michigan for a full week of FUN in September.
We've got 50 coaches here at Duck Creek RV Resort near the shores of Lake Michigan.
A big thanks to Midway RV and Newmar for making this event a huge success every year.
Watch Out Michigan, Here We Come!
Riding The Luge!
The Hoots always break free from the normal RV Rally activities and this year is no different. We're doing several fun and exciting things but nothing as crazy as "Riding The Luge"
Muskegon has one of the few all season Luge tracks in the USA and we are here to test it out. It's off-season for the track so we have it all to ourselves.
After signing a very detailed Injury Waiver, choosing our helmets and getting careful operator instructions, it's off to the track we go.
There is nothing as funny and entertaining as watching a bunch of Seniors trying to act like nimble 10 year olds. I think the most entertaining part was watching everyone get down to ground level to get on the sled and then get back up at the end of the ride.
This event was a blast with everyone smiling from ear to ear the entire time.
It was an awesome "Once in a lifetime" experience. (Now pass me the Ben-Gay)
Jeeps On The Dunes
We had a great time running the Jeeps through the woods and mud of North Carolina and now It is time to break out those Jeeps again.
This time Steve S. has brought us out to the Dunes along the Lake Michigan shoreline.
It is an incredible day of fun playing "King of the Hill" and learning how to properly attack the inclines in order to make it to the top.
These Hoots know how to have fun!
Of course, It's all fun and games until you have to come home and shovel out all the sand inside and wash out the undercarriage, and I'm not just talking about the Jeep!
Mac's Dune Rides
It is a perfect day and a bunch of us headed off to Mac's for a tamer and more scenic way to spend time on the dunes.
This is a guided, open roof buggy ride along the dunes of Lake Michigan to enjoy the incredible landscape and fabulous views.
We even spent time with the butterflies.
Lake Michigan Boat Ride Aboard The Aquastar
Hoping to redeem himself after last year's train ride, Vinny "Choo Choo" Chianese has booked us on The Aquastar for a sunset cruise along the bay in Muskegon.
Well, the weather rolled in and it looked like Vinny's redemption might have to wait another year but just after we boarded the boat in the rain, the skies began to clear a little and set the tone for a wonderful early evening ride along the shoreline of the bay. The waters were calm, the view of the shoreline was excellent and everyone had a really great time.
Okay, Vinny, you are now fully redeemed and we all look forward to your next adventure.
The Nightly Campfire - A New Tradition?
Dave H. just happens to have a friend living in Muskegon with a lot of firewood and he has dropped off 2 pickup truck loads for us to use this week.
This is the first year of a nightly fire and Dave and Steve S. make sure the fire is lit at dusk and everyone brings their chairs for a great social gathering. We even brought the grills one night and had an unplanned group cookout. There is always plenty to eat at a Hoots event. Just watch out for Dave's Dirty Dogs!
