The History of Hoots
The Hoots started simply as an idea – to get together in one fun place. Several people, known only by their screen names on the iRV2 Newmar Owners’ Group, came together informally on the forum when Newmar upgraded its Dutch Star line in 2013. From initial reports on how the coaches performed in day-to-day settings, to options that people found could be ordered through a call to Newmar before their coaches went into production, the forum took on a life of its own. Before long, the forum was generating daily interest among all the users. In the spring of 2013, two of the participants agreed that it would be ‘a hoot’ to find a way to get together with their online group. In short order, a plan emerged and they came up with the name “Newmar Hoots Looking for a Roost”. Other group members were invited to join the fun and there was immediate interest. The first Hoots was held in October 2013 in Sevierville, Tennessee. The Hoots finally got to meet one another and were able to place faces with screen names. It was a memorable ‘hoot’ for everyone who attended. |
