2021 Gulf Shores, AL - Hoots IX
Hoots took place from October 12 through October 19, 2021. We had 48 Newmar coaches at the Sugar Sands RV Resort which was a perfect venue for this year’s Hoot. This year was also the first year that Hoots had official sponsors with National Indoor RV Center (NIRVC) and Freightliner Custom Chassis Corp (FCCC) providing four days of activities, food, drinks and fantastic planned activities. Kickoff Party
We started the week with a kick-off gathering at Dave Hamilton’s site where we renewed old friendships and welcomed new Hoots. Coach Stroll
Many Hoots participated in a Coach Stroll where we split the RV park in half so that we could either host visitors to our coach or go visit other coaches often accompanied with delicious snacks or drinks. It was great to see different floor plans and coach interiors as well as unique modifications done by several Hoots. Dolphin Watching Cruise
A big benefit of sponsorship this year was the unique activities that we were able to participate in. We all got aboard a big yellow dolphin watching tour boat and went out into the bay in search of dolphins...and boy did we find them. Dolphin ‘wrestling’ was very illuminating - who knew how frisky dolphins could be? Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo
Our sponsor treated us to dinner at the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo. Along with a great dinner, we also had the opportunity to feed giraffes, see an owl up close (what a hoot) and pet a 7 month old kangaroo. Tech Talks
Hoots was once again honored to have a chance to speak with Newmar executives to provide feedback and suggestions on the things we as coach owners would like to see in the future. We also had tech talks hosted by NIRVC, Freightliner and RV Trip Wizard. Continuing the Spirit of Hoots
In keeping with the spirit of Hoots, we enjoyed a number of other activities that brought Hoots together to hang out and enjoy each other’s company. We continued traditions like Dave’s Dirty Dogs, a pancake breakfast and an arts and crafts session for the ladies. This year we also held our first annual Cornhole tournament and the Duffy’s treated us to homemade Gumbo and Jambalaya one evening for dinner. |
